Sync projects to your computer and watch DAW folders · Help

This guide is for anyone using the desktop app. It assumes you have installed it and chosen a folder (see Install the desktop app).

Choose what syncs

In VYNLT, open Backup & Sync (called Desktop, sync & backup in the Producer view).
Under Computers, find this computer and choose Choose what syncs.
Pick projects or whole workspaces, and how each one syncs: Two-way, Download only or Upload only.

Files are laid out as Workspace / Project / Song / Versions, Masters and Stems. How many computers can sync, and whether you can sync whole workspaces, depends on your plan.

Watch your DAW's bounce folder

In the desktop app, open Watching (from the window's sidebar under This computer, or the menu-bar icon).
Choose Watch a folder….
Choose Choose… and pick the folder your DAW exports to (Logic's Bounces folder, an Ableton export folder, a Voice Memos export, a drive).
Pick the Workspace new files should go to. Tick Only watch the bounce folders if you don't want other audio picked up.
Choose Start watching.

Every new audio file there becomes a private draft in Drafts. See Drafts.

The Sync tab

Sync now checks for changes straight away.
Pause transfers stops uploads and downloads until you resume.
Open folder opens your VYNLT folder.
Verify files re-reads every file and compares it with VYNLT's checksum. Download good copies replaces anything damaged.
Smart sync rules skip old bounces, large files or file types on this computer.
Bandwidth schedule limits speed or pauses transfers at set times, and Wi-Fi networks to treat as metered pauses on a phone hotspot.

Conflicts

If a file changed in two places, nothing is overwritten. Backup & Sync → Conflicts lists it. Choose Keep app version, Keep desktop version or Keep both.

Stop syncing a computer

In Backup & Sync → Computers, choose Unlink. The app on that computer is signed out and stops syncing. Files already there are left where they are.

Common problems

"SYNC PAUSED FOR YOUR SAFETY". The app found a lot of files deleted at once. Choose Keep them here if that was a mistake, or Move to the VYNLT trash folder to go ahead.
A watched folder shows as limited or unreadable. It is too big or the app can't read it. Watch a smaller folder, such as just the bounce folder.
Bounces don't appear. Check the folder in Watching, and that the file is a supported audio format. Large files over the upload limit are listed in the app instead.
