Capture bounces and use the DAW plugin
Send bounces from your DAW into Drafts, install the plugin (Audio Unit and VST3), and find it in Logic, Ableton Live, FL Studio and other DAWs.
Available on Artist · Producer · Studio · Label
This guide is for producers and engineers. Capture is how bounces get from your DAW into VYNLT without dragging files around. There are two ways: a watched bounce folder (see Sync and watch folders), or the VYNLT plugin in your session. Either way, the audio arrives privately in Drafts for you to confirm.
The plugin passes audio through untouched, with no added latency. It only talks to the VYNLT desktop app on the same computer, so the app must be open and signed in.
Install the plugin
- Open the desktop app and go to Watching. Or use DAW Plugin… in the app's File menu.
- On the DAW plugin card, choose Install DAW plugin.
- Mac: installs the Audio Unit and VST3 for your user.
- Windows: installs the VST3 for your Windows user. If your DAW doesn't find it, choose Install for all users and accept the administrator prompt.
- Rescan plugins in your DAW (see below).
When the app has a newer plugin, the button says Update DAW plugin. Uninstall removes it.
Find it in your DAW
- Logic Pro: restart Logic. On a channel strip (the stereo output is a good place), click an Audio FX slot and choose Audio Units → VYNLT → VYNLT.
- Ableton Live: Options › Preferences › Plug-ins › Rescan (on Windows the same path). Then find VYNLT under Plug-ins in the browser and drop it on the Main track.
- FL Studio: on a Mac, Plugin manager › Find plugins. On Windows, Options › Manage plugins › Find installed plugins. Then add VYNLT to the Master mixer track.
- REAPER (Windows): Options › Preferences › Plug-ins › VST › Re-scan.
- Cubase and other VST3 DAWs: rescan VST3 plugins, then add VYNLT as an insert.
Pro Tools (AAX) and GarageBand aren't supported yet.
Use the plugin
- Open the plugin window. The top says Connected to VYNLT when the app is running.
- Choose Link a song and pick the project, song and version. The song's comments appear on a bar ruler, and clicking one tells you the bar and beat to jump to.
- Print to VYNLT: arm it and play. When you stop, the recording becomes a draft in Drafts, with the DAW, tempo and bar details attached.
- Go Live from this track streams this track to a Live session. See Live.
Common problems
- "Open VYNLT to connect". Open the desktop app and sign in. The plugin reconnects by itself.
- VYNLT isn't in my DAW's plugin list. Rescan plugins or restart the DAW. On Windows, add
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\Common\VST3to your DAW's VST3 folders, or choose Install for all users. - The plugin window is blank on Windows. It needs Microsoft WebView2, which comes with current Windows 10 and 11.
- A print stopped early. Removing the plugin or closing the session during a print discards it. Print again.
