Comments at a timestamp
Leave a note at the exact second on the exact version, mention people, reply, resolve and keep notes internal.
Available on Listener · Artist · Producer · Studio · Label
This guide is for everyone who gives or gets feedback on a mix. A comment in VYNLT belongs to one version and, usually, one moment in it.
Leave a comment at a moment
- Open the song. The Overview tab shows the player and the comments.
- Play the song and pause where you want to comment. The timestamp is added for you, for example @ 1:43.
- Type your note in the box (Comment on Mix 12 at 1:43…). Type @ and a name to mention someone.
- Choose Comment.
To comment on the whole song instead, choose the ✕ next to the timestamp: it becomes a General comment. If you have set a loop, choose Use loop as region to comment on that whole section.
Attach a file
Choose the paperclip (Attach a file) to add an image, PDF, text or audio file of up to 25 MB.
Who can see a comment
Use the Who can see this note list before you post:
- Everyone with access: everyone who can open the song, including people you shared it with who can leave notes.
- Team only: members of the project, never people you shared a link with.
- Internal (label & management): only label and management roles. The button changes to Add internal note.
Reply, resolve and reopen
- Choose Reply under a comment to answer in its thread.
- Choose Resolve when the note is dealt with. Reopen brings it back.
- When you upload a new version, you can carry open notes over from an earlier one: open the new version's options (⋯) and choose Carry open notes here from….
If someone shared a link with you
If the sender allowed notes, you can leave timestamped notes from your own account on the share page. Only you and the team see them, with your VYNLT name.
What you'll see
- Markers on the waveform show where each comment sits. Click one to jump there.
- Comments show edited if they were changed. The edit history is kept.
Common problems
- There's no comment box. Your role is Viewer, which can only listen. Ask a manager for the Commenter role or higher.
- My comment went to the wrong version. Comments belong to the version that was playing. Delete it and post it again on the right one.
