  • DDEX export: Label

This guide is for labels, managers and studios handing a release over. VYNLT doesn't send releases to streaming services. It prepares a sealed package you deliver to your distributor or partner.

Release readiness

  1. Open the project and choose Release readiness.
  2. Each song shows what's done and what's TO DO: credits, ISRC, artwork, masters, approvals and clearances. RECOMMENDED items aren't required.
  3. When everything needed is done, the project shows READY FOR DELIVERY.

Build a delivery

  1. On Release readiness, choose Build delivery.
  2. Tick Include stems if you want them, and add a Note (optional).
  3. Choose Build and download.

The package is one sealed ZIP with every Official Master, optional stems, lyrics, metadata (JSON and CSV), artwork and a SHA256SUMS.txt file. Choose DDEX ERN for a DDEX ERN 4.3 file, if your plan includes it. Download again gives you the exact same bytes.

Send it to someone

  1. Choose Send to recipient.
  2. Enter the Recipient email, and if you like a Name (optional) and Message (optional).
  3. Choose how long it's Available for, and tick Recipient needs two-factor if you want.
  4. Choose Send.

The status moves through SENT, OPENED, DOWNLOADED and ACKNOWLEDGED. To take it back, choose Recall, give a Reason (shown to the recipient) and Recall now. Copies already downloaded can't be pulled back. Send updated replaces it with a newer package.

Receiving a delivery

Open the link in the delivery email and sign in with that address. Choose Download ZIP, check the files with sha256sum -c SHA256SUMS.txt, then Acknowledge receipt. All deliveries lists everything sent to you.

Codes and clearances

  • Code bank holds your ISRC and UPC codes. Choose Import codes to add a batch, and Settings to set your registrant codes. Codes are assigned to songs and releases from the bank.
  • Clearances lists samples and interpolations across your releases, outstanding first, with owners, fees and status. Export CSV downloads it.

Common problems

  • A song changed after you sent it. Build a new delivery and choose Send updated. The recipient is pointed to the new one.
  • The recipient can't open it. They need a VYNLT account with the address you sent it to, and two-factor if you required it.
