Export a workspace, import a ZIP and restore
Download everything in a workspace as ZIP files with a checksum manifest, import an earlier export or a folder of music, and preview a restore from a backup.
Available on Artist · Producer · Studio · Label
This guide is for workspace owners and admins who want a portable copy of their music, or need to bring music in from elsewhere. Open Backup & Sync and choose Export, import & restore.
Export a workspace
- Under Export this workspace, choose a Part size. Big workspaces are split into several ZIP files.
- Choose Start export.
- When it's ready, download the parts from Recent exports, imports and restores.
The export includes every file and a Manifest (SHA-256 of every file), so you can check nothing changed.
Import an earlier export
Under Import a VYNLT export, choose Upload export parts… and pick the ZIP files from an export. Projects are rebuilt from the manifest.
Import a folder of music
- Put the folder in a ZIP file.
- Under Import an existing folder, choose Each top-level folder is a project or The whole ZIP is one project (and give it a Project title).
- Choose Upload ZIP….
Preview a restore from a backup
- Under Restore from a backup, choose the backup.
- Choose Preview restore. This is a dry run: nothing changes yet. Existing files are never overwritten, and anything that differs is listed for you to review.
- Start the restore when you're happy.
Common problems
- "No backups to your own cloud are set up." Choose Set one up. See Back up to your own storage.
- "Create or join a workspace first." Exports and imports belong to a workspace. You need an owner or admin role in one.
- Your own account data (not music) is downloaded from Settings → Security → Your data. See Account security and your data.
